Greg Conway has been advising our clients on their European and cross-border M&A, joint venture and corporate finance transactions for more than 20 years. In particular, he regularly advises private equity clients across the continent on their acquisitions, consortia arrangements, high yield debt financings and sale processes, including IPOs and reorganizations. His clients have included KKR and other sponsors and their respective portfolio companies as well as U.S. and European private and public companies and investment banks. Greg has served on the Firm’s Executive Committee and was Managing Partner of our London office from 2007 to 2017. Greg served on the board of Travelers Insurance Company Limited and Travelers Syndicate Management Limited and currently serves on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations.

Greg Conway has been advising our clients on their European and cross-border M&A, joint venture and corporate finance transactions for more than 20 years. In particular, he regularly advises private equity clients across the continent on their acquisitions, consortia arrangements, high yield debt financings and sale processes, including IPOs and reorganizations. For example, Greg has represented KKR in connection with KKR’s acquisition of Cognita, Pets at Home and Northgate Information Solutions in the U.K.; Visma in Norway; Ambea in Sweden; NXP B.V. (the Semiconductors Business of Philips NV) and Koninklijke Vendex in the Netherlands; Legrand in France; and GfK, Kion Group, MTU Aero Engines and Wincor Nixdorf in Germany; among other transactions. Greg has also acted for KKR in connection with the sale of its investment in Visma as well as its sale of U.N Ro-Ro in Turkey and Northgate Public Services in the U.K., and on the restructuring of the Maxeda DIY Group in Holland and Northgate Information Solutions business in the U.K. Greg has acted for the issuer or selling shareholder in connection with the initial public offerings of Autotrader, Infinis Energy, Talanx, Demag Cranes, Zumtobel, MTU Aero Engines, Alea Group Holdings, Wincor Nixdorf and Willis Group Holdings. Greg has also acted for various investment banks as initial purchasers and underwriters of high yield debt, convertible bonds and equity offerings.

Greg joined Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in 1987. He was based in the Firm’s London office from 1990 to 1993 and then returned to New York, where he became a Partner in 1997. Greg returned to London in 1997 and was the Managing Partner of the London office from 2007 to 2017. Greg was the first partner based outside the U.S. to be elected to the Firm’s Executive Committee, on which he served for three years from 2011-2014. He received his B.A. from Brown University in 1984 and his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law in 1987, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He has been a panelist at several IBA and PLI conferences on private equity and leveraged buyouts. Greg served on the board of Travelers Insurance Company Limited and Travelers Syndicate Management Limited and currently serves on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations.
