Robert’s practice focuses on a range of lending and capital markets transactions in the oil and gas exploration and production, midstream and related service sectors. He represents corporate borrowers and issuers, commercial banks and mezzanine lenders, institutional investors and insurance companies.
Robert, who has been identified as “one of the country’s top energy financing lawyers” by Law360 and named 2012 Houston Lawyer of the Year for Banking and Finance Law by Best Lawyers, has represented JPMorgan Securities LLC in connection with numerous financing transactions, including a $7 billion underwritten bank, institutional term loan, and bridge financing for the acquisition of certain BP GOM assets by Plains Exploration & Production; Vantage Energy in its $200 million Second Lien Term Loan Credit Agreement; LLOG Bluewater in its $450 million reserve based development credit facility; and Wells Fargo Bank in the credit facilities for certain affiliated investment funds managed by EnerVest, including one credit facility to effectively leverage Net Profit Interests investments by UBTI sensitive investors.
Robert received his J.D. from Louisiana State University Law Center and his B.S. from Louisiana State University. Robert is admitted to practice in Louisiana and Texas. Prior to joining the Firm, Robert was at the law firm of Vinson & Elkins for over 20 years.
