
Charles “Casey” Cogut is global head of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, and is the leader of the Firm’s worldwide private equity practice. He specializes in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, and transactions involving private equity firms. In addition, throughout his career, he has advised boards of directors with respect to corporate governance matters and the responsibilities of directors.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Cogut has supervised and participated in the Firm's representation of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and many of its portfolio companies. In addition, he has represented adidas AG, ARAMARK, BD, JC Flowers & Co., JLL Partners, Nets Sports and Entertainment LLC, Shinsei Bank, Silver Lake Partners and Wyeth.
Mr. Cogut joined the firm in 1973 and has been a partner at Simpson Thacher since 1980. From 1990 to 1993, he served as Senior Resident Partner in the firm's London office. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Co-Chair of the Board of Advisors of the University's Institute for Law and Economics.
Mr. Cogut received his J.D. in 1973 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School after graduating summa cum laude from Lehigh University in 1969.
