
Arthur D. Robinson is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in the Firm’s Capital Markets Group, is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and is Co-chair of the Business Development Committee. He advises investment banking and corporate clients on a wide array of corporate finance transactions, particularly in the areas of initial public offerings, high yield, mezzanine finance and restructurings, as well as corporate governance issues.
Mr. Robinson regularly advises investment banking clients in debt and equity offerings. Recent transactions include offerings to finance the acquisitions of Burger King, STP/Armor All®, HD Supply, Realogy Corporation and ServiceMaster by private equity concerns and Mirant Corporation’s and Reader’s Digest’s emergences from bankruptcy, the restructuring of Realogy Corporation’s balance sheet, the IPO of Pike Electric and offerings by Virgin Media, Brunswick Corporation, Smithfield Foods, Inc. and Gibraltar Industries, Inc. Mr. Robinson was counsel to Radio Shack Corporation in recent high yield and convertible notes offerings and to ARAMARK Corporation in connection with its corporate reorganization, initial public offering and equity tender offer.
Mr. Robinson is recognized among the leading capital markets lawyers in the United States and the world by several publications including Chambers and PLC Which Lawyer.
Mr. Robinson is a member of the Law Alumni Council of the University of Virginia School of Law.
Mr. Robinson joined Simpson Thacher in 1988 and became partner in January 1997. In addition to currently serving as a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and as Co-Chair of the Business Development Committee, he has also been a member of the Firm’s New Partners and Opinion Committees. He received his B.S.E. (emphasis in accounting), summa cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1988. Mr. Robinson was Managing Editor of the Virginia Law Review.
