Simpson Thacher Matters Shortlisted at GCR Awards 2020

Simpson Thacher matters were shortlisted as part of Global Competition Review’s 10th annual awards in the below categories:

  • “Merger control matter of the year – Americas” for the Firm’s role advising L3 Technologies, Inc. in connection with its business combination with Harris Corporation. The Simpson Thacher team advising on the antitrust aspects of this matter included Peter Guryan, Rick Jamgochian, Daniel Owsley, Nathaniel Bronstein, Preston Miller and Jared Meyer.

  • “Litigation of the year – Cartel defence” for the Firm’s work advising HCA and Methodist in defeating class certification and eventually settling the remaining individual claims in an antitrust suit alleging that three defendant hospital networks in Texas—Baptist Health Systems, Methodist and Christus Santa Rosa Health Care Corporation—conspired to depress nurse wages. The Simpson Thacher team included Abram Ellis.

  • “Behavioural matter of the year – Americas” for the Firm’s role advising a global company in connection with the U.S. DOJ probe of container shipping companies. The Simpson Thacher team was led by John Terzaken.
