Berkshire Hathaway and Tokio Marine Holdings Enter into Strategic Partnership
Simpson Thacher advised Berkshire Hathaway’s core reinsurance entity, National Indemnity Company, in connection with its strategic partnership with Tokio Marine Holdings. As part of the strategic partnership, National Indemnity Company made an approximately $1.8 billion equity investment in Tokio Marine and will assume a portion of Tokio Marine’s global insurance portfolio through a whole account quota share reinsurance arrangement. The companies have also agreed to collaborate on global strategic investment opportunities.
