Simpson Thacher is representing TransAlta Corporation (“TransAlta”) in its acquisition of Mountain Peak Power, LLC (“Mountain Peak Power”) and Canyon Peak Power LLC (“Canyon Peak Power”) from subsidiaries of Blackstone Inc.
Mountain Peak Power owns a 162-MW, natural gas-fired peaking facility in Colorado, that has been operating since September 2025. Canyon Peak Power owns a 156-MW, natural gas-fired peaking facility in Colorado, and is expected to achieve commercial operations in the third quarter of 2026.
