Simpson Thacher represented KKR in connection with its sale, to a leading global institutional investor, of a portfolio of 16 hotels across 11 major cities in Japan operating under the Four Points Flex By Sheraton brand. KKR acquired the portfolio from Unizo Holdings in 2024 and, in strategic partnership with Marriott International, launched the Four Points Flex By Sheraton brand in Asia Pacific. The Firm also represented KKR on the initial acquisition in 2024.
The portfolio hotels are located in major tourist destinations across Japan such as Greater Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Fukuoka. Since acquiring the portfolio, KKR has undertaken a range of value creation initiatives and repositioned the portfolio for Japan’s growing demand for high-quality, accessible accommodation.
