Rajib Chanda, Global Head of Asset Management, was quoted in a Regulatory Compliance Watch article titled, “Retailization: Come Walking, Go Running,” which examined the SEC’s proposed reforms to facilitate greater retail investor access to private market strategies. Discussing the proposed changes to performance fees, Rajib noted that such fees “matter fundamentally” because when investing in private assets, there is “a level of diligence, understanding, expertise, and skill required.” He also discussed the proposals’ potential benefits for hedge, venture capital and secondaries strategies, while noting that existing Investment Company Act limitations continue to present challenges for traditional private equity buyout funds. He remarked that he hopes the regulators address these limitations in the next round of rulemaking, and that “this is just the beginning.”
