As a Partner in the Firm’s Capital Structure Solutions Practice, Jack Luze advises public and private companies, private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, lenders and other capital providers on a broad range of debt financing and related transactions. He has extensive experience representing clients with respect to liability management transactions, financings, divestitures and acquisitions, and in- and out-of-court restructurings. He also advises boards of directors and senior management of distressed companies regarding fiduciary duties and corporate governance matters. 

Jack has advised a number of public and private companies regarding complex liability management, restructuring and other financing transactions in recent years, including Klöeckner Pentaplast, McDermott International, PetSmart, Envision Healthcare, Altera Infrastructure, Benefytt Technologies, IPC Systems, Oasis Petroleum, Ascena Retail Group, Windstream Holdings and Seadrill Limited. Jack has also advised a number of private equity sponsors, lenders and other capital providers in similar transactions. Jack has represented clients in a range of industries, including manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, construction, healthcare, technology and software, retail, telecommunications and financial services.

Jack has advised a number of public and private companies regarding complex liability management, restructuring and other financing transactions in recent years, including Klöeckner Pentaplast, Vertex Energy, Inc., Northvolt AB, McDermott International, PetSmart, Benefytt Technologies, Inc., Envision Healthcare, Nautical Solutions, L.L.C., Altera Infrastructure, IPC Systems, Oasis Petroleum, Ascena Retail Group, Windstream Holdings, Gastar Exploration, Seadrill Limited, BCBG Max Azria Global Holdings, Penn Virginia Corporation, C&J Energy Services, Southcross Holdings and Magnum Hunter Resources. Jack has also advised a number of private equity sponsors, lenders and other capital providers in similar transactions, including Knighthead Capital Management, LLC and Certares Opportunities LLC in their purchase of Hertz, an ad hoc committee of secured term lenders in the restructuring of Ditech Holding Corporation, Oaktree Capital Management and KKR Credit Advisors in the restructuring of Proserv Group, an ad hoc committee of unsecured noteholders in an out-of-court exchange transaction for Northern Oil & Gas, an ad hoc committee of unsecured noteholders in the restructuring of Bonanza Creek Energy and EIG Partners as the largest creditor in Intervention Energy’s restructuring. Jack has represented clients in a range of industries, including manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, construction, healthcare, technology and software, retail, telecommunications and financial services.

Jack has been recognized for his work in the restructuring space, including as an “Up and Coming” lawyer in the 2025 edition of Chambers USA, as a part of the International Insolvency Institute’s Class X for the NextGen Leadership Program and in the 2023 and 2024 editions of The Legal 500 United States for Restructuring: Corporate.

Jack received his J.D., cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 2013, where he was Order of Barristers and on the Executive Board of the Washington University Global Studies Law Review. He was also a recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence in Bankruptcy, Joseph Kutten Award in Bankruptcy, Don Sommers Award in Professional Responsibility and received CALI Awards in Bankruptcy, Commercial Law and Securities Regulation. Jack received his B.A. in Economics & Management Information Systems from University of Northern Iowa in 2010. He is admitted to practice in Illinois.
