Erik Quarfordt

Erik Quarfordt is a Partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Department. His practice focuses primarily on representing private equity firms and portfolio companies in significant commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and complex financings.

Erik was named both an “MVP” and previously a “Rising Star” in Real Estate by Law360, recognized for his representation of major players in the industry and private equity firms in their real estate transactions.

Erik's recent experience includes:

• $5.56 billion sale-leaseback transaction and financing of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
• $13 billion acquisition and financing of American Campus Communities Inc. by Blackstone
• $4.25 billion acquisition, lease-back and financing of the Bellagio in Las Vegas
• $3.89 billion acquisition and financing of the Aria Resort & Casino and Vdara Hotel & Spa (CityCenter) in Las Vegas
• $5.8 billion acquisition and financing of Preferred Apartment Communities, Inc. by Blackstone
• $5.9 billion acquisition and financing of Colony Capital’s industrial platform by Blackstone
• $4.6 billion acquisition, lease-back and financing of the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas
• Blackstone, Carlyle and Hellman & Friedman in connection a CMBS financing concurrent with their majority investment in Medline
• Hilton in connection with its financing and ultimate $1.95 billion sale of The Waldorf Astoria in New York
• Blackstone in its acquisition and financings of Willis Tower in Chicago, IL
• Blackstone in its acquisition and financing of Bentall Centre in Vancouver, Canada through a joint venture with Hudson Pacific Properties

Erik joined Simpson Thacher in 2000. He received his J.D. from University of Texas School of Law in 2000, where he graduated with honors and was a member of the Texas Law Review. He received his B.A. from Rice University, cum laude, in 1997.
