Brian Chisling is a senior counsel in the corporate department at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.  He specializes in transactions involving energy companies, advising corporate clients and underwriters with respect to mergers and acquisitions, project financings and securities issuances (including advice concerning federal and state regulatory approvals and filings).  In the power industry, he regularly advises American Electric Power Company, Inc., Ohio Valley Electric Corporation, PPL Corporation and private equity clients (including Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), Blackstone and First Reserve Corporation)  with respect to a broad range of transactions and regulatory issues.  He has recently advised KKR and other investors with respect to their investment in Energy Future Holdings Corporation (formerly TXU Corporation), KeySpan Corporation with respect to their sale to National Grid plc and RBS plc in connection with their energy commodities joint venture with Sempra Energy.  Mr. Chisling is currently representing PPL Corporation in connection with the divestiture of two electric generation businesses, and recently advised PPL Corporation with respect to the sale of its gas utilities business and the sale of three Latin American electric transmission businesses.

Mr. Chisling joined the firm in 1994, was named counsel in 2002, and was named senior counsel in 2004.  He received his J.D. with honors from the Ohio State University College of Law in 1994.  He received a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Sociology from Indiana University in 1991.  Mr. Chisling is a member of the American, Ohio and Energy Bar Associations.
