Chet A. Kronenberg is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department. He represents clients in a wide variety of commercial disputes, in state and federal courts, as well as arbitral proceedings. Mr. Kronenberg currently is representing United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company in a high-profile reinsurance dispute stemming from an asbestos settlement of approximately $1 billion. Mr. Kronenberg also is representing Pinnacle Foods in a consumer class action lawsuit concerning the safety of certain frozen food products. In addition, Mr. Kronenberg represents an investor group in litigation arising from its acquisition of Airvana and Blackstone in litigation arising from its acquisition of Equity Office Properties. Finally, Mr. Kronenberg was an integral part of the Simpson Thacher team that successfully represented Swiss Reinsurance Company in the 2004 jury trial of the insurance coverage dispute surrounding the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
In addition to his billable activities, Mr. Kronenberg finds time for pro bono engagements. In 2004, Mr. Kronenberg led a team of Simpson Thacher lawyers on behalf of Los Angeles pro bono client, Helen Coleman, in a wrongful foreclosure case referred by Public Counsel. The high-profile case was successfully litigated and eventually settled. For his efforts, Mr. Kronenberg and the Firm were awarded Public Counsel’s prestigious “Consumer Law Firm of the Year” award. Mr. Kronenberg is currently on the Firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
Mr. Kronenberg was elected to membership in the Firm in 2001. He received his B.A. from Tufts University in 1990 and his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1993.
