Jennifer Hobbs is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department.  Her practice includes a broad range of bank and bridge financings, with an emphasis on leveraged acquisition finance.  She represents many of the Firm's leading corporate and private equity clients, including Silver Lake Partners, Apax Partners, BC Partners, Hellman & Friedman, Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and S.A.C. Private Capital.

The American Lawyer named Ms. Hobbs as one of the top “45 Under 45” in its January 2011 survey recognizing the best of the best young women lawyers at AmLaw 200 firms.  Ms. Hobbs was also recognized in 2010 by Legal 500 for her representation of Silver Lake Partners in connection with the debt financing for their acquisition of a 65% interest in Skype Technologies from eBay.

Ms. Hobbs’ recent acquisition finance experience has included the representation of:

  • Hellman & Friedman in connection with the financing of its acquisition of Internet Brands, Inc. (December 2010).
  • BC Partners and Silver Lake in connection with over $2 billion of financing for their acquisition of Multiplan Holdings Inc. (August 2010).
  • Silver Lake and Warburg Pincus in connection with over $2 billion of financing for their acquisition of Interactive Data Corporation. (July 2010).
  • Apax Partners in connection with the debt financing for their acquisition of a majority stake in Sophos plc. (June 2010).
  • A consortium led by S.A.C. Private Capital Group in financing their acquisition of Airvana, Inc. (April 2010).
  • Silver Lake and its co-investor group in connection with the debt financing for their purchase of a 65% interest in Skype Technologies from eBay, Inc. (November 2009).

Ms. Hobbs has also represented:

  • Mars, Inc. in connection with over $22 billion of financing for its acquisition of Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company (2008).
  • Hellman & Friedman in $1.045 billion of financing relating to the acquisition of Getty Images, Inc. (2008).
  • Goldman Sachs Capital Partners in the financing of its C$2.3 billion acquisition of Alliance Atlantis Communications (2007).
  • KKR in the financing of its $664 million acquisition of MMI Holdings Ltd., a Singapore public company (2007).
  • Goldman Sachs Capital Partners in $1.05 billion financing relating to the acquisition of USI Holdings Corporation (2007).
  • Goldman Sachs Capital Partners in $875 million bank financing relating to the acquisition of McJunkin Corporation (2007).
  • A consortium led by Goldman Sachs Capital Partners in the financing of their $22 billion acquisition of Kinder Morgan, Inc. (2007)
  • Silver Lake in $1.23 billion bank financing relating to the acquisitions of IPC Systems, Inc. (2006) and Westcom Holding Corp. (2007)
  • KKR in connection with the financing of its $900 million acquisition of the Software Development and Solutions Business of Flextronics (2006). 
  • Ford Motor Company in its $18.485 billion of secured bank financing (2006).
  • KKR and Silver Lake in connection with $975 million of senior secured bank financing for their acquisition of the semiconductor products business of Agilent Technologies (2005).
  • A consortium of Silver Lake, Bain Capital, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, KKR, Providence and Texas Pacific Group in connection with $5 billion of senior secured bank financing for their acquisition of SunGard Data Systems (2005).
  • KKR in connection with $2.71 billion of senior secured bank financing for its acquisition of PanAmSat Corporation (2005).

Ms. Hobbs received her J.D. from New York University in 1997, her M.I.A. from Columbia University School of International & Public Affairs in 1992 and her B.A. from the University of Texas in 1989.  Ms. Hobbs joined Simpson Thacher in 1997.
