Lori Lesser is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where she co-heads the Firm's East Coast IP transactional practice. Ms. Lesser advises on all aspects of intellectual property and technology law, including complex corporate transactions, licensing, counseling and litigation, in fields including media and entertainment, computer software and technology, financial information, consumer products, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, Internet and e-commerce services, fashion design and non-profits.

Ms. Lesser has represented companies including America Online, C.R. Bard, Google, JPMorgan Chase, Mars, Owens-Illinois, Sesame Workshop, Sirius Satellite Radio, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Travelers, Viacom, Virgin Mobile and Warner Music and private equity firms including Blackstone, Elevation Partners, Hellman & Friedman, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Silver Lake and Vestar in private and public transactions. Her IP transactional expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate finance, joint ventures and credit transactions, licensing and counseling, while her IP litigation practice comprises trial and appellate work, Patent and Trademark Office trademark representations and World Intellectual Property Organization arbitrations.

Ms. Lesser is repeatedly ranked in Chambers USA – Guide to America’s Leading Business Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America, and is listed in the "Top 50 Under 45" U.S. IP Lawyers (IP Law & Business magazine) and the "IAM 250: World’s Leading IP Strategists" (Intellectual Asset Magazine). She has received the Burton Award for legal writing and the Award of Excellence from Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. Her IP work in private equity deals was featured on the cover of IP Law & Business.

Ms. Lesser was selected as a David Rockefeller Fellow for the class of 2009-10.  She is a co-founder and steering committee member of the Kate Stoneman Project and has served as a trustee of the Harvard Law School Association of New York City.  She serves on Law360’s IP Advisory Board and the Business Advisory Council of ProPublica.

Ms. Lesser has lectured to the Practising Law Institute, Copyright Society, Harvard Law School, New York New Media Association, Association of the Bar of the City of New York, D.C. Bar Association and Licensing International Conference, and has published articles in Bloomberg Law Reports, Cyberspace Lawyer, Distributed Computing, ECommerce Law, Intellectual Asset Management, Journal of Proprietary Rights, Mealy's Litigation Report, Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, Thomson & Thomson's Client Times, the PLI Press book "Advising High-Technology Companies" and the Lexis/Nexis book "Intellectual Property in Business Organizations."

Ms. Lesser graduated from Harvard University (A.B., magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, 1988) and Harvard Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1993).
