Chairman, Executive Committee
Pete Ruegger is Chairman of the Executive Committee of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. Mr. Ruegger advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, corporate governance, investigations, corporate finance and general corporate and securities law matters.
Mr. Ruegger has represented principals on a number of significant merger transactions and advises many of the firm’s regular clients, including Blackstone, Travelers and Accenture among others.
Mr. Ruegger joined Simpson Thacher in 1974 and became a Partner in 1981. He became head of the Corporate Department in 2002. He has been a member of the Firm's Executive Committee since 1993 and became Chairman of the Executive Committee in 2004. He received his A.B. from Dartmouth College, magna cum laude, in 1971 where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1974. Mr. Ruegger is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Mr. Ruegger is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Natural Resources Defense Council and a member of the Board of Henry Street Settlement House.
