Pete Ruegger is a Partner with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Ruegger served as the Chairman of the Firm’s Executive Committee from 2004 to 2013.
Mr. Ruegger advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, corporate governance, investigations, corporate finance and general corporate and securities law matters. Mr. Ruegger has represented principals on a number of significant merger transactions and advises many of the Firm’s regular clients.
Mr. Ruegger joined Simpson Thacher in 1974 and became a Partner in 1981. He has been a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee since 1993. He received his A.B. from Dartmouth College, magna cum laude, in 1971 where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1974. Mr. Ruegger is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Mr. Ruegger is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Chairman of the Board of Henry Street Settlement House and a member of the Board of Directors of the Partnership for New York City. The Legal Aid Society has announced that in May 2013 it will honor Mr. Ruegger with its Servant of Justice Award.
