Risë Norman is a Partner in the Firm's Corporate Department, where she represents a broad range of industrial corporations, investment banks and other financial institutions engaged in capital markets transactions involving the public offering and private placement of debt and equity securities and also represents such clients in connection with their participation in mergers and acquisitions and leveraged buyout transactions. From June 1997 to November 1997 she practiced in the Firm's Hong Kong office.

Ms. Norman has represented Lehman Brothers as initial purchaser of $275,000,000 Senior Subordinated Notes of Accuride Corporation and has advised New Skies Satellites B.V. and its majority shareholder, Blackstone, in its initial public offering and as issuer of $160,000,000 Senior Floating Rate Notes and $125,000,000 Senior Subordinated Notes. Major clients have also included ITC Holdings Corp. and its majority shareholders, KKR and Trimaran, in its initial public offering and in its offering of $267,000,000 Senior Notes, Visant Holding Corp. and its majority shareholders, KKR and DLJMBP III, in its offering of $350,000,000 of Senior Notes and Texas Genco LLC and its shareholders, Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, KKR and Texas Pacific Group, as issuer of $1,125,000,000 Senior Notes.

Ms. Norman became a member of Simpson Thacher in 1998. She is a member of the Securities Regulation Committee and a former member of the Financial Reporting Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and a current member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. She sits on the Board of Visitors of Stanford Law School; was the Area Enrollment Director for the Dartmouth Alumni Association of New York and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Lawyers Division of the UJA-Federation.

Ms. Norman received her A.B. magna cum laude in 1985 from Dartmouth College where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1988 where she was an Articles Editor for the Stanford Law Review.  From 1988 to 1989, Ms. Norman was a Law Clerk to The Honorable Jesse E. Eschbach, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
