Sasan Mehrara is a Partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Department, where he focuses primarily on representing private equity firms, his past representations have included the real estate funds of The Carlyle Group and The Blackstone Group, in commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and financings.
Over the past several years, Mr. Mehrara has worked on over $80 billion of public to private real estate transactions, which have included the acquisition by affiliates of The Blackstone Group of Extended Stay America, Prime Hospitality, La Quinta, MeriStar, Trizec Properties, Equity Office Properties, and Hilton Hotels. Mr. Mehrara also has had extensive experience in securitized financings, including representing Marsh & McLennan Companies on the financing of their corporate headquarters in New York City and the refinancing of a portfolio of over 650 hotels owned by affiliates of The Blackstone Group, which at the time was the largest commercial mortgage securitization ever.
Mr. Mehrara joined Simpson Thacher in 2000 and became a partner in 2007. Mr. Mehrara received his B.A., cum laude, with distinction in History, from University of Pennsylvania in 1994 and his J.D. with honors from The George Washington University Law School in 1997, where he was the Production Editor of The George Washington University Law Review.
