Seth A. Ribner is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he is a member of the Firm's Litigation Department resident in Los Angeles, California. His areas of concentration are insurance coverage, energy and complex business litigation.

Mr. Ribner represents a number of AIG Member Companies, St. Paul Travelers Companies and ACE Companies in coverage litigations involving environmental, product, and asbestos exposures. He has also represented insurers in coverage litigation involving first party property, marine and aviation insurance. Mr. Ribner has been responsible for precedential appellate decisions in the area of environmental insurance coverage including Ogden Corp. v. Travelers Indemnity Co., 924 F.2d 39 (2d Cir. 1991), and Fruit of the Loom, Inc., v. Travelers Indemnity Co., 672 N.E. 2d 278 (Ill. App. 1996).

Mr. Ribner is a member of the American Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has been named by Los Angeles Magazine to its 2004, 2005 and 2006 listing of Southern California Super Lawyers. Mr. Ribner is also a member of the UCLA Law School Dean’s Advisory Council.

Mr. Ribner received an A.B., summa cum laude with distinction and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. He also received an A.M. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. Mr. Ribner obtained a J.D. from Columbia University in 1982 where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Mr. Ribner served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Jerome Farris, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 1982 to 1983.
