William R. Dougherty is a partner with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP where he is a member of the Firm’s Corporate Department and is the Firm’s Co-Administrative Partner. Mr. Dougherty’s practice has focused on merger and acquisition and corporate finance transactions. He has represented corporations, private equity sponsors and investment banks in a variety of leveraged buyouts, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and other business combination transactions. He has also represented issuers and underwriters in initial public offerings, high yield bond offerings and other corporate finance transactions.
Mr. Dougherty was in the firm’s London office from 1996 until 2002 and was based in the firm’s Tokyo office during 1990-1991. In addition to currently serving as Co-Administrative Partner, Mr. Dougherty has also been a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Dougherty has been with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett since his graduation from the University of Chicago Law School in 1986. He received his A.B., magna cum laude, in 1983 from Georgetown University. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York State and American Bar Associations.
