Representing private equity funds and corporate clients, Yang Wang is Counsel in Simpson Thacher’s Corporate Department. His varied practice includes assisting clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, corporate finance transactions and other general corporate matters. Yang was recognized as one of China’s Top 15 Rising Lawyers by Thomson Reuters Asia Legal Business in 2016.  Yang speaks both English and Mandarin Chinese.

Recent representative experience includes advising:

  • Primavera Capital Group and Ant Financial Services Group in their $460 million investment in Yum China Holdings Inc. (“Yum China”), concurrent with the completion of Yum China’s spinoff from Yum! Brands, Inc (NYSE: YUM).

Yang received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics, summa cum laude, and Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2000 and 2001, respectively. He received his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2008, where he was a Clarence Darrow Scholar and served as an Article Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Yang is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. He speaks English and Mandarin Chinese.
