Pro Bono

Each year, Simpson Thacher's lawyers devote many thousands of hours to pro bono projects.

These matters are as varied as representing:

  • Immigrants and asylum seekers
  • Victims of trafficking and domestic violence
  • Indigent criminal defendants and those seeking second chances through conviction relief
  • Low-income tenants facing homelessness
  • Micro-entrepreneurs starting new businesses
  • Environmental organizations seeking to protect endangered species and wilderness areas throughout the nation
  • Nonprofits in corporate and tax matters
  • Children seeking access to special education services in school

We also handle impact litigation involving civil and human rights issues, and write amicus briefs on constitutional issues before the U.S. Supreme Court and Circuit Courts on behalf of civil rights organizations nationwide.
