The Firm's Hong Kong office was established in 1993 and now has over forty-five lawyers, including eight partners. The office provides advice across the full spectrum of the Firm's corporate practice, including cross-border capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, private equity formation and investments, acquisition finance, and related US tax law advice. The office primarily serves Greater China, South and Southeast Asia and Korea. It also provides a truly global capability through coordination with the Firm's offices in Beijing and Tokyo and support from the Firm's offices in the Americas and Europe. The Hong Kong office provides clients with experienced transaction lawyers, many of whom are fluent in either Chinese or Korean. Simpson Thacher launched a Hong Kong local law practice (??) in September 2011. Adding Hong Kong law qualification enhances the Firm’s existing and successful China practice and enables the Firm to offer clients broader capabilities, particularly with respect to capital markets and mergers and acquisitions transactions.
