Leading the Firm’s Private Funds Practice in Houston, James Hays counsels some of the world’s largest and best-known private fund sponsors on the organization and administration of private investment funds across a diverse range of asset classes and strategies, including energy, infrastructure, buyout, real estate, debt and secondaries. James also has significant experience with set-up and operation of Luxembourg alternative investment funds and alternative investment fund managers, and is frequently sought by sponsors seeking to establish fund platforms in Europe. His clients include both domestic and international private fund sponsors, such as BC Partners, Blackstone, First Reserve, GSO, Macquarie and Stonepeak, among others. In 2019, the Texas Lawyer named James a lawyer “On the Rise.”

Prior to rejoining Simpson Thacher in 2017, James was a Vice President in the Blackstone Real Estate Group, where he oversaw legal and compliance matters related to Blackstone Real Estate Partners, one of the world’s largest real estate private equity platforms.

Prior to joining Simpson Thacher, Ravi was most recently a Managing Director at Blackstone Infrastructure Partners and, before that, was a Managing Director at Alinda Capital Partners, an infrastructure investment firm.

Linda Tieh is a Partner in the Firm’s Private Funds Practice. She advises sponsors on the formation, structuring and operation of private equity funds, including buyout funds, real estate funds, opportunistic funds and secondary funds, as well as on co-investment arrangements, “funds-of-one” and separately managed accounts for large investors. Her practice also includes advising sponsors on GP-led structured secondary and other liquidity transactions, economic, governance and other internal sponsor arrangements, as well as regulatory compliance and fund-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions transactions.   

Linda’s experience includes representing some of the largest and most prominent private fund sponsors, including Blackstone, Centerbridge, Hellman & Friedman, The Carlyle Group, MatlinPatterson Global Advisers and Palladium Equity Partners.

Brad represents clients in connection with the purchase and sale of a broad range of assets, including upstream and midstream oil and gas assets and companies. Brad’s transactional experience also includes advising clients in connection with the formation of joint ventures and complex energy projects, farmout and participation agreements to develop oil and gas properties, oil and gas transportation and gathering agreements, natural gas processing and fractionation agreements and other commercial transactions concerning the development of oil and gas properties. Formerly the General Counsel for a large privately held oil and gas company, Brad understands the day-to-day operational, midstream, marketing and other business and legal issues that customarily arise in the oil and gas space.
