Daniel McEntee

Daniel McEntee is a Partner in Simpson Thacher’s Mergers and Acquisitions Practice. Based in the Houston office, Danny advises strategic companies and private equity clients on a broad range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity investments and internal reorganizations. His work spans across multiple industries, with a particular focus on energy and infrastructure, including exploration and production, midstream, refining, oilfield services, petrochemicals and renewable energy. He has also advised on matters in the chemicals, retail, technology and financial services spaces.

Notable experience prior to joining Simpson Thacher includes advising:

• A major midstream company in the formation of a joint venture involving a new crude oil pipeline, as well as an associated export terminal
• A large financial services company in multiple tax equity investments in wind and solar projects
• A major insurance company in the sale of a large portfolio of solar and energy storage projects
• A private equity fund in multiple sales of large-scale solar and wind projects
• A U.K.-based oilfield services company is multiple acquisitions and divestitures of oilfield services companies
• A master limited partnership in multiple acquisitions of large midstream assets and the buy-out of its JV partner
• A global asset manager in its preferred equity investment in an upstream exploration and production company
• A private equity fund in its preferred equity investment in an upstream exploration and production company, and its later exit from such investment
• A renewable energy company in the acquisition of a wood pellet production facility

Danny received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2012, where he was the Business Manager and an Executive Editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy. He received his B.A. in Classics and Political Science from the University of Southern California in 2009, summa cum laude. He is admitted to practice in Texas.
