Chad Skinner is a Partner in the Firm's Corporate Department. Chad has over 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions and regularly represents large-scale and mid-market private equity firms and companies across a wide range of industries. Chad has led transaction teams in private company sales, public company take privates, divisional carve-outs, public and private minority investments and joint ventures, with transaction sizes ranging from over $20 billion to under $20 million. He also provides general corporate advice to public and private companies on a variety of governance and other day-to-day legal matters.

Chad has led transaction teams in private company sales, public company take privates, divisional carve-outs, public and private minority investments and joint ventures, with transaction sizes ranging from over $20 billion to under $20 million. Chad has been recognized from 2015-2018 in Chambers USA, Corporate/M&A: Private EquityCalifornia. He was also named a Top Corporate Innovator by the Daily Journal for his work on Sheridan Healthcare Inc.’s $2.35 billion sale of AmSurg Corp, and recognized by Law360 as a “Rising Star” for private equity, highlighting his work with high-profile clients on several multibillion-dollar private equity transactions. Chad was named by the M&A Advisor in its Top 40 Under 40 M&A Advisor Recognition AwardsWestern Region.

Chad joined Simpson Thacher in 1997. He received his B.A., cum laude, in 1994 from Duke University and his J.D., cum laude, in 1997 from the University of Michigan School of Law, where he was a member of the Michigan Law Review. He is admitted to practice in California and New York.
