Simpson Thacher recently represented The Carlyle Group in connection with the issuance of over $10 billion in limited partnership interests in two buyout funds. Carlyle Partners IV, Carlyle’s principal leveraged buyout fund in North America, closed on $7.85 billion of capital commitments. CP IV is reported to be the largest private equity fund ever raised from third party investors. Carlyle Europe Partners II, Carlyle’s principal leveraged buyout fund in Western Europe, closed on nearly €1.8 billion of commitments.
