Promoting diversity and inclusion at all levels of the Firm enhances our ability to meet the needs of our clients and helps us maintain our leadership role in the legal community.
Our hiring action reflects our words: 49% of our 2018 summer associate class was female and 38% were law students of color.
Our diversity and inclusion efforts are spearheaded by the Firm's leadership, including our Executive, Diversity, and Women's Committees. These key groups at the Firm implement intentional and strategic efforts to:
- Attract and recruit the most talent lawyers
- Develop every lawyer across all demographics and practice areas
- Increase the advancement of women, LGBTQ, and lawyers of color
- Foster a community of inclusion where every lawyer can thrive, and
- Lead the profession to greater inclusion and representation and strengthen collaborations with clients to maximize impact.
The partners of our Diverse Committee oversee our diversity and inclusion programs, and engage the entire Simpson community to be part of and contribute to the Firm's efforts.
The Committee receives valuable input from the associates and counsel on our Diversity Advisory Council who actively participate in and contribute to our inclusion efforts. We believe that recruiting, mentoring, and promoting outstanding professionals from underrepresented backgrounds is the mission of all of our attorneys.
