Lori Lesser Quoted in The New York Times on Valuing Artists’ Intellectual Property

Lori Lesser, Head of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Group, was quoted in The New York Times on the valuation process for the intellectual property of creative arts. In the article, which discusses the intellectual property of renowned graphic novelist Will Eisner,  Lori noted that calculating the value of an artist’s archive is unique and not an exact science. In these types of matters where an investor can’t reasonably estimate the cost of resources put into the creative work, Lori recommends pricing the assets based on estimated future income stream from products and licensing fees or analyzing data of other similar characters that were sold.
