His practice focuses on acquisition finance and other debt finance matters across various industries, including financial services and asset management, healthcare and life sciences, real estate, technology, manufacturing and industrials sectors, among others. In 2024, John was recognized by Chambers USA as a leading debt finance attorney.

John’s notable experience prior to joining Simpson Thacher includes advising:

  • American Securities in connection with obtaining $505 million of first lien term loan facilities and an $80 million ABL facility to finance its acquisition of Aramsco
  • American Securities in connection with obtaining a $1.4 billion first lien term loan facility, a $425 million second lien term loan facility and a $175 million ABL facility to finance its acquisition of Hexion
  • American Securities in its acquisition of Integrated Global Services, a provider of efficiency and reliability solutions to the industrial, power generation, and energy sectors
  • American Securities in its acquisition of NWN Carousel, a provider of cloud communications services and hybrid work solutions, from New State Capital Partners
