Simpson Thacher Names Marcy Geller as Co-Head of Its Tax Practice

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced today that Marcy Geller has been named Co-Head of the Firm’s Tax Practice, joining the current Head, Nancy Mehlman.

“Simpson Thacher’s Tax Practice has a long-standing history of providing sophisticated advice to clients around the world on their most complex transactions,” said Bill Dougherty, Chairman of the Firm’s Executive Committee. “Marcy possesses a combination of intellect, technical expertise and business acumen with a sterling reputation for providing outstanding strategic counsel, and we look forward to the continued success of our world class Tax Practice under Nancy and Marcy’s leadership.”

Marcy’s practice focuses on advising clients on the tax aspects of a wide range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and related financing transactions in the credit and capital markets. She also advises private equity clients on tax matters related to the formation of funds, including real estate opportunity and credit funds, and the structuring of investments by those funds. Marcy received her J.D., magna cum laude, and LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif, and her B.S., magna cum laude, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Based in the Firm’s New York office, Marcy has been with Simpson Thacher for more than 23 years and was elected Partner in 2006.
