Afaxys Secures $8 Million Funding To Expand Its Mission and Launch Its Growth Strategy

06.25.25

Simpson Thacher represented the David and Lucile Packard Foundation in connection with its $3 million program-related investment into Afaxys, Inc., a leading women’s reproductive health company whose purpose is to ensure affordable access to sexual and reproductive healthcare for all patients. This is the third investment from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation since Afaxys was launched in 2008.

Afaxys also received a grant of $5 million from an anonymous foundation, resulting in a total of $8 million in new capital. Afaxys will use the new capital to expand its mission and launch its growth strategy, which includes plans to complete the development of a novel contraceptive that will increase access for marginalized women and the over 19 million women living in contraceptive deserts.

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation is a private foundation whose mission is to build just societies, protect and restore our natural world and invest and families and communities.

The Simpson Thacher team includes John N. Bennett.
