Laura Brett Quoted in Law360 on 2025 Data Privacy and Consumer Protection Developments
Laura Brett, head of the Firm's Advertising Advisory and Litigation Practice, was quoted in a Law360 article examining the major data privacy and consumer protection developments in 2025. Drawing on her decades of consumer-facing industry experience, Laura commented on the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) enforcement priorities, observing that despite predictions of a slowdown under new leadership, the agency remained highly active.
She highlighted the FTC’s heightened focus on protecting minors, noting that the Commission is “looking pretty carefully at whether companies have policies in place to protect children and teens, and if they're enforcing these policies.” She further observed the FTC’s continued action on affordability issues, saying that “nothing is more material than the price consumers are paying for a service” and that the FTC is using its Section 5 authority to “look at activities around fees and subscriptions that are concerning to consumers.”
