Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP today announced that Stephanie Marshak has joined the Firm as a Partner in New York, where she will focus on in- and out-of-court restructuring, liability management and other debt-related matters. Stephanie’s arrival further strengthens the Firm’s Capital Structure Solutions Practice and deepens its bench of practitioners who advise clients on some of their most complex financing transactions.
“Stephanie brings exceptional experience across the full range of debt-related matters—from leveraged and investment-grade financings to restructurings and special situations,” said Alexandra Kaplan and Brian Steinhardt, Co-Heads of the Firm’s Global Banking and Credit Practice. “Her technical experience in structuring and negotiating sophisticated debt transactions makes her a valuable addition to our platform.”
“The restructuring and liability management landscape continues to evolve, with transactions becoming more intricate and multifaceted,” said Elisha Graff, Co-Head of the Liability Management and Special Situations group and Capital Structure Solutions Partner. “Stephanie’s hybrid skillset—spanning finance, capital markets, liability management and restructuring will be an asset to clients navigating the current environment and looking to leverage the tools available to tackle maturities and distressed situations.”
Stephanie counsels public and private companies, as well as hedge funds and private equity firms, on the full spectrum of debt-related matters, including in- and out-of-court restructurings, liability management exercises, special situations, leveraged and investment-grade bank and bond financings, and the debt aspects of acquisitions, divestitures and spinoffs. She also has experience advising on chapter 11 filings and reorganizations, including developing and negotiating plans, plan support arrangements, DIP financings, exit financings, 363 sales and litigation trusts.
“Since launching the Capital Structure Solutions Practice earlier this year, we have built out an extraordinary team of lawyers who are best-in-class at delivering integrated, unconflicted, client first advice,” said David Nemecek, Head of the Capital Structure Solutions Practice. “Stephanie’s arrival continues that momentum and reinforces the breadth and depth of what we can offer clients across the entire capital structure.”
“Simpson Thacher has assembled a remarkable team that unites restructuring, finance and capital markets expertise under one roof in a way that few firms can match,” said Stephanie. “I am excited for the opportunity to work alongside practitioners of this caliber and to help clients craft solutions to their most critical capital structure decisions.”
