Simpson Thacher was the top legal advisor in PERE’s Private Real Estate Funds League Table Rankings by total aggregate value of private real estate funds for 2025, advising on 17 funds which totaled $43.6 billion in aggregate capital. PERE highlighted that was “roughly a third of all capital raised by clients of the law firms on the list.” The Firm was recognized for its role advising on Blackstone Real Estate Partners Europe VII, which raised €9.8 billion ($10.6 billion), making it the largest European real estate drawdown fund ever raised based on third party capital commitments, and Carlyle Realty Partners X, which raised approximately $9 billion. The rankings cover blind-pool private equity real estate funds that had a final close date in 2025.

Partner Peter Gilman was also quoted in the article, noting, “We have clients that are successful, not only in raising capital for their core strategies, but branching out into other strategies and other business units, and become large multidisciplinary, multi-strategy firms.”
