Simpson Thacher Attorneys Quoted in Latinvex on 2026 M&A Outlook in Latin America
Co-Heads of Simpson Thacher’s Latin America Practice Grenfel Calheiros and Juan Francisco Méndez were quoted extensively in a Latinvex article titled, “Brazil: Bolsonaro Victory Seen Boosting M&As,” which discussed the potential impact of recent elections in Latin America on M&A activity. Commenting on Brazil, Grenfel noted an expected positive momentum in M&A, including that “markets have largely priced in a change of government,” and that “Market participants seem to expect a lasting honeymoon period, with Brazilian assets trading at lower risk premiums.” Juan Francisco further explained how optimism is high in Colombia, Peru and Chile, where an increase in M&A activity can be expected as a result of the recent change towards more investor-friendly governments. “We are hopeful and cautiously optimistic about the outlook for M&A and investment across the region,” he added.
