Protecting the Jury Process from Ubiquitous Social Media
Simpson Thacher Los Angeles litigation partner Michael Kibler and Los Angeles litigation associate Sarah Luppen co-authored an article entitled “Protecting the Jury Process from Ubiquitous Social Media” that was published in the December 16, 2011 issue of the Daily Journal. The article addresses a California law taking effect in January 2012 that regulates jurors’ use of the Internet and social media while serving jury duty. The new law is intended to address a phenomenon that the New York Times has called the “Google mistrial.”
