Partners Brian Christiansen, Spencer Sloan, Lee Meyerson, Amanda Allexon and Sven Mickisch authored an article in The Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog titled “Simpson Thacher Discusses New Fed Principles to Shift Bank Supervisory Priorities.” The article discusses the Federal Reserve’s recent Statement of Supervisory Operating Principles, which sets out changes to how examiners should supervise banking organizations, including how these principles reflect the new Administration’s “overall shift in direction and posture” of banking supervision. The article further outlines common themes among shifts in other federal banking agency supervisory standards, such as the October 2025 joint proposal by the OCC and FDIC to revise their frameworks for supervisory enforcement and communications.
