Amelia Doughty is Director of Practice Management for London Real Estate and a member of the Firm’s Corporate Department.

Amelia has extensive experience advising private equity sponsors, portfolio companies and other top-tier investors in connection with complex cross-border transactions, including structuring of real estate and private equity transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, restructurings, special situations, distressed investments, commercial contracts and advisory work.

Amelia leads the London Real Estate Group’s technical business development initiatives and supports the team in problem solving on their market-leading deals.  She focuses on providing technical advice and training to clients and is responsible for training and know-how in the London Real Estate team. 

Amelia is noted in The Legal 500 whose client comments describe her as a “top notch attorney–commercially savvy, expert negotiator and very efficient. She has a tight grasp of a transaction’s needs–she know when to press the gas, when to pump the brakes and when to drill down on issues”.

Experience prior to joining Simpson Thacher includes:

  • Advising Blackstone on its €260mm recommended cash acquisition of Talisein Property Fund Limited implemented by way of a Scheme of Arrangement
  • Advising FTV in respect of its series C and series D investment in Paddle.com Limited;
  • Advising FTV in respect of its acquisition and subsequent disposal of Centaur Financial Services; and
  • Advising the coordinating committee of noteholders comprising certain holders of the Luxembourg-incorporated issuer Lecta S.A.’s senior secured notes on the successful completion of a comprehensive financial restructuring transaction in respect of Lecta, one of the largest paper manufacturers in Europe.
