Joongwon Park is Counsel in the Hong Kong office. He has a diverse corporate practice that focuses on M&A and capital markets, including providing a wide range of clients with advice on complex buyouts and minority investments, IPOs, Rule 144A/Regulation S offerings and private placements. Now based in Simpson Thacher’s Hong Kong’s office, Joongwon also practiced in the Firm’s New York office and spent several years in Seoul.

Joongwon Park is Counsel in the Corporate Department of  Simpson Thacher’s Hong Kong office. With a diverse corporate practice that focuses on M&A and capital markets, Joongwon provides clients with advice on complex buyouts and minority investments, IPOs, Rule 144A/Regulation S offerings and private placements. Joongwon also practiced in the Firm’s New York office and spent several years in Seoul.

    • Purchase of redeemable convertible preferred shares issued by SK E&S for US$2 billion and subsequent purchase of additional redeemable convertible preferred shares issued by SK E&S
    • Purchase of exchangeable bonds issued by Vingroup exchangeable for ordinary shares of VinFast
    • Acquisition of ESG Group and minority interest in TSK Corp. and subsequent merger to form ECORBIT
    • Acquisition of copper foil and flexible copper clad laminate business of LS Automotive and sale of equity stake in KCF Technologies
    • Multiple acquisitions and dispositions of real estate assets in Korea
  • SK Group in multiple transactions, including –
    • Investments in The Center for Breakthrough Medicines, Plug Power, Yposkesi, Mackage and Alice + Olivia and acquisition of AMPAC Fine Chemicals
  • Underwriters in the US$11 billion IPO of LG Energy Solution on the Korea Stock Exchange, which is the largest ever public offering in South Korea

Joongwon graduated from Yonsei University and received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Administrative Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. He is fluent in Korean and he is admitted to practice in New York.
