Paul Van den Abeele is based in the Firm’s Luxembourg office. A member of Simpson Thacher’s Investment Funds Practice, he advises large-scale, global sponsors, financial institutions and asset managers across Europe, the US and Asia in relation to the structuring, implementation, and management of investment funds. His practice focuses on the formation of alternative investment funds, with experience across a range of asset classes including private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate and infrastructure. His fund formation practice covers both closed-ended and open-ended evergreen offerings, includes multi-strategy platforms, as well as unregulated private funds and regulated private wealth products.
Paul is also recognized by Chambers and Legal500 as a leading lawyer in Investment Funds and has been described as “Highly Regarded” by IFLR1000. He is a member of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (AlFI) and the Luxembourg Private Equity Association (LPEA).
Paul is fluent in Dutch, English and French and understands German, Italian and Luxembourgish. He is admitted to the Luxembourg bar and has a Master of Laws from the University of Leuven and a postgraduate degree in Estate Planning from the University of Brussels.
