Tony Liu

Tony Liu is a Partner of the Firm and a Transaction Manager in the Hong Kong office, and a member of the Asia Private Funds Practice. He focuses on advising private investment fund sponsors on fund formation and related matters across Asia and globally. 

Tony represents leading international sponsors on the formation of private investment funds across a wide range of asset classes, including buyout, venture capital, real estate, credit and secondaries. His experience includes advising sponsors such as Affinity Equity Partners, Cinven, Coller Capital, CVC Capital Partners and EQT.
 
Tony’s recent fund formation and related experience includes advising:

• Cinven on the formation of the Eighth Cinven Fund ($14.5 billion)
• CVC Capital Partners on the formation of CVC Capital Partners IX (€26 billion) and CVC Capital Partners Asia VI ($6.8 billion)
• EQT on the formation of EQT X (€22 billion)
• Japan Innovation Investment Company (J-INC) on the formation of its augural Japan buyout fund Avant Fund Cayman, LP (over ¥60 billion)
• Primavera Capital on the formation of Primavera Capital Fund IV and Primavera Capital Fund III*
• SilkRoad Property Partners on the formation of SilkRoad Asia Value Partners II*

Tony joined the Firm in 2022 and had practiced in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. During his time in London, he completed a secondment with Coller Capital.

Tony will be based in the Firm’s Singapore office upon its announced opening in 2026.

Tony received his law degree from the National University of Singapore, is admitted to practice in Singapore and is a native Mandarin speaker.
