Adam Goldberg is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department currently practicing in the Hong Kong office. He has deep experience representing clients across Asia in government and internal investigations, international arbitration, and securities and complex commercial litigation, as well as in providing regulatory counseling, including with respect to anti-corruption, sanctions, export controls, anti-money laundering and data privacy compliance. Adam was nominated as a Who’s Who Legal: Investigations expert and “future leader” in 2019 and 2020, and a “National Leader” for Mainland China and Hong Kong in 2021. He is also recognized by Chambers Greater China Region and Chambers Global, where clients noted “[h]e is fluent in Mandarin, which goes a long way in connecting with Chinese clients,” has “significant experience in the US and China, so he brings a strong ability to combine view points from both perspectives to form solid advice for his clients”, and is a “great business partner who provides practical and realistic recommendations.” Adam has lived and worked throughout Asia, giving him a unique understanding of region-specific business needs. Adam Goldberg is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department currently practicing in the Hong Kong office. Adam advises clients throughout Asia in a wide variety of disputes and investigations, including internal and government investigations, international arbitrations, securities litigation and counseling on the regulatory aspects of business transactions. He also represents clients in complex business and intellectual property disputes, and has litigated at both the trial court and appellate court levels.

Adam routinely assists corporations, investment banks and private equity funds in conducting regulatory risk assessments and implementing effective anti-corruption and anti-money laundering compliance programs, pre-transaction due diligence and Chinese-and English-language employee trainings. Prior to joining Simpson Thacher, Adam was an attorney at two other leading law firms. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard R. Clifton, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in Honolulu, Hawaii. 

He received his J.D. in 2006 from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA Law Review. He received his A.B. with honors, magna cum laude, in 1999 from Brown University, where he received the Harris T. Whitmore Departmental Award in East Asian Studies.

Adam is admitted to the bar in California and to practice before the United States Appeals Court for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court, Northern District of California and the High Court of Hong Kong.
