Based in our London office, Gil Strauss’ practice focuses on U.S. securities laws.  Gil has extensive experience working for both private equity sponsors and underwriters on their high yield bond offerings, restructurings, initial public offerings and other corporate finance transactions.  He has also represented corporations and private equity sponsors in a variety of leveraged buyouts transactions, as well as general corporate and securities law matters.

Gil Strauss is a Partner in the Firm’s Capital Markets Practice where he focuses on U.S. securities laws.  Gil has extensive experience working for private equity sponsors, issuers and underwriters on their high yield bond offerings, restructurings, initial public offerings and other corporate finance transactions.  He has also represented corporations and private equity sponsors in a variety of leveraged buyouts transactions, as well as general corporate and securities law.

Recent transactions on which Gil has worked include the representation of Blackstone on the acquisition financing for Alliance Automotive Group, the lenders to Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division on the acquisition financing for Flint Group, the lenders to Hony Capital on the acquisition financing for Pizza Express, and Aston Martin Holdings in connection with multiple high yield debt offerings.

Gil was formerly a partner in Weil’s London office, which he joined in 2013 from Freshfields where he led their high yield practice.  Prior to that, he practiced at Simpson Thacher as an associate from September 1999 until August 2010.  Gil received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
