Igor Fert is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department. Igor's practice is focused on complex corporate finance, securities, governance, and disclosure matters.
He has extensive experience advising private equity firms, public and private companies and boards of directors in connection with acquisition financings, IPOs, public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, corporate governance, shareholder activism, crisis management, and other securities and corporate law matters.
Igor’s experience includes the representation of The Blackstone Group in connection with multiple investments, acquisitions and exit transactions, including Crocs, JDA Software, Vivint Smart Home, Vivint Solar, SeaWorld, Service King, Performance Food Group, Apria Healthcare Group, Allied Security Holdings, AVINTIV and Celanese Corporation; the representation of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. in connection with its acquisitions of Alliance Tire, Ipreo Holdings and Oriental Brewery; the representation of Apax Partners in connection with its acquisition of The Trizetto Group; the representation of Snow Phipps Group in connection with its acquisition of LTI Holdings; and the representation of Vestar Capital Partners in connection with its acquisition of National Mentor.
Igor’s experience also includes the representation of Performance Food Group, SeaWorld, Virgin Mobile USA, Mueller Water Products and Celanese Corporation in connection with their IPOs and numerous other public and private financing transactions; and the representation of public and private companies and boards of directors, in connection with corporate governance, shareholder activism, crisis management, disclosure and reporting and other matters.
Igor has represented a number of investment banking clients, including JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank and BofA Merrill Lynch in connection with public and private offerings of debt and equity securities of various corporate issuers.
Igor joined Simpson Thacher in 1999 after receiving his J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a Managing Board Member of the Virginia Journal of International Law.
Igor has been active on pro bono and civic matters throughout his career, and currently serves on the Firm's pro bono committee. He previously served as Co-Chair of the Firm’s Business Development Committee.
