Simpson Thacher’s Los Angeles office offers sophisticated transactional and litigation expertise to our diverse client base. Since opening in 1996, our office has expanded to include approximately 40 lawyers, representing clients on transactions that cover the full range of corporate matters in private fund formation, banking and finance, and mergers and acquisitions. Our experienced litigators engage in high-stakes litigation, including consumer class actions, commercial disputes, employment, insurance coverage and securities and shareholder derivative matters, in federal and state courts throughout the country. Summer Program

The goal of the Los Angeles office summer program is to introduce you to life at the Firm—our practice, our people and our culture. We provide a wide range of opportunities to experience the diversity of the Firm’s practice, as well as to meet and engage with our attorneys. You will participate in both an initial orientation program, to introduce you to the Firm’s work and culture, and a series of additional training programs and workshops throughout the summer.

Our goal in assigning work is to provide you with a realistic view of life as an associate while simultaneously refining your research, communication, writing and legal analytical skills. You will work directly with partners and associates on a variety of active transactions and matters throughout our practice areas. To provide you with additional guidance during the summer program, you will be paired up with an associate and a partner mentor.

Simpson Thacher’s Los Angeles office sponsors social activities throughout the summer that allow you to spend time getting to know our attorneys and your fellow summer associates outside the office and to experience the many attractions of the Los Angeles area. In previous years, Los Angeles summer associates have cheered on the LA Dodgers and Los Angeles Football Club, visited several eateries as part of a walking food tour of Santa Monica, enjoyed a night at the legendary Magic Castle, spent a day at Disneyland, watched an outdoor movie at a partner’s home and participated in other impromptu activities throughout the course of the summer.
