Chambers Global Ranks Firm's Trial Litigators Among the World's Best

02.15.07

Simpson Thacher litigation partners Barry R. Ostrager and Roy L. Reardon were listed as the World's Best Trial Lawyers in Chambers & Partners recent guide, Chambers Global 2007: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business.  Chambers' researchers conducted over 6,500 in-depth interviews with clients and lawyers, covering 170 countries assessing qualities that include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, and  commitment. Editorial comment is also derived from the research, with quotations used when they sum up the prevailing opinion of the market.

According to Chambers, Mr. Ostrager "is one of New York’s 'grand litigators.'" As co-head of Simpson Thacher’s litigation department, he runs “a slick, collegial group.” In the courtroom, he is described as “a bulldog” and admired for his cross-examination skills as well as his strategic vision. Mr. Ostrager has earned a reputation for himself as one of America’s top insurance litigators but rivals say they would “refer a case to him any time, regardless of the subject matter or degree of complexity.” Chambers noted that Mr. Reardon is "without a doubt, one of the most outstanding members of the litigation Bar in New York."

These accolodes punctuate the leadership position of the Firm's litigation practice, which is ranked in the top tier categories in Chambers USA 2006: Americas Leading Lawyers for Business.  Additionally, in June 2006, Chambers & Partners hosted its first U.S. based awards ceremony and named individual U.S. award winners in various categories.  Mr. Ostrager won the award for Litigation Business Trial Lawyer and Simpson Thacher litigation partner Kevin Arquit was the co-winner of the Antitrust award.
