Simpson Thacher Represents JPMorgan in Connection with $5 Billion Revolving Credit Facility for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation

Simpson Thacher represented JPMorgan as a lead arranger and administrative agent in connection with a new $5 billion senior secured revolving credit facility for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (“APC”), which replaced APC’s existing $1.3 billion unsecured revolving facility. The credit facility became effective in early September.

Anadarko is one of the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies. The Company expects to use the proceeds to finance working capital and liquidity needs and for general corporate purposes.

Simpson Thacher previously represented J.P. Morgan Securities Inc., Barclays Capital Inc. and the other underwriters in Anadarko Petroleum Corporation’s offering of $2.0 billion of 6.375% Senior Notes due 2017, which closed on August 12, 2010.
