Simpson Thacher Elects Six New Partners

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced that it has elected six attorneys as members of the Firm effective January 1, 2015.  The new partners are:  

Matthew P. Einbinder (Corporate – Houston) – Matt represents borrowers and lenders in banking and credit transactions, including acquisition, energy related and project financings as well as credit derivatives transactions.  He received his J.D. in 2005 from the University of Virginia School of Law where he was on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Law Review, and his B.S. from Columbia University in 2000. Matt was a Counsel at the Firm prior to his election as partner. 

Adam C. Furber (Corporate – Hong Kong) – Adam is a member of the Firm’s private funds practice.  He represents a broad range of alternative asset management firms in the formation and ongoing operation of their private equity, real estate and other private investment funds.  He received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1999 and a B.A. from Colby College in 1994.  Adam was a Counsel at the Firm prior to his election as partner.

Clare Gaskell (Corporate – London) – Clare advises private equity firms and corporate clients on private M&A and public takeovers as well as equity capital markets transactions.  She received her B.A. from St. John’s College, Cambridge in 2000 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law in 2001 and Diploma in Legal Practice in 2002 from Nottingham Law School. 

Peter H. Gilman (Corporate – New York) – Pete is a member of the Firm’s private funds practice.  His practice focuses on the sponsoring and operation of private investment funds, investment management M&A and other aspects of private investing in alternative asset classes.  He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2004 where he was Article Editor of the Virginia Tax Review and Editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law.  He received a B.A. in 2000 and an M.G.A. in 2001 from the University of Pennsylvania. 

Sara Y. Razi (Litigation – Washington, D.C.) – Sara’s practice focuses on a wide range of antitrust matters, including government merger and conduct investigations, antitrust litigation and counseling on a wide variety of competition issues.  She was formerly Deputy Assistant Director of the Bureau of Competition at the Federal Trade Commission.  Sara received her J.D., summa cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law in 2000, where she was Note and Comment Editor of the American University Law Review.  She received her B.A. from the University of Colorado in 1995.  Sara was a Counsel at the Firm prior to her election as partner.
