Rajib Chanda Quoted in Ignites on SEC Chair Jay Clayton’s Departure

Corporate Partner Rajib Chanda was quoted in an article in Ignites, a Financial Times publication, titled, “Clayton’s Legacy: SEC Chair to Depart at Year-End.” The article discussed how SEC Chair Jay Clayton plans to step down at the end of 2020 and highlighted a variety of developments that took place at the SEC during his tenure. When discussing how Mr. Clayton’s rulemaking matched his desire to level the investment playing field, Rajib said, “I think he has really focused a lot of policies on how to bring more investment parity between wealthy individuals and ordinary Americans.”
Rajib also noted that regulations during Mr. Clayton’s tenure, including the ETF rule, helped the SEC balance its mission of both protecting investors and fostering capital formation. “In a lot of cases, previous rulemakings have unduly favored investor protection goals at the expense of capital formation goals,” he said.
